The Chair of Ultrafast Microscopy and Photonics focuses on the interaction of light with matter, exploring many-particle effects in solid-state systems and applications in next-generation quantum and optoelectronic technologies.

Research Scope

The selected candidate will conduct scientific research on the optical properties of excitonic many-particle states in two-dimensional materials under THz radiation. The work involves linear and nonlinear microscopy, THz excitation, and streak camera-based detection techniques. Collaborative research with national and international partners is a key part of the project.

Eligibility and Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Physics, with strong interest in experimental and application-oriented research. Required skills include:

  • Experimental experience in optics and material preparation

  • Knowledge of spectroscopy and microscopy techniques

  • Familiarity with low-dimensional van der Waals materials

  • Experience with strain engineering and hybrid heterostructures

  • Excellent command of English

Benefits and Working Environment

The position offers a stimulating research environment within a highly motivated, international team. TU Dresden is a certified family-friendly university and encourages diversity, inclusivity, and equal opportunity in research and academia.

Application Procedure

Applicants should submit their complete application (as a single PDF) by November 26, 2025, preferably via the TUD SecureMail Portal at https://securemail.tu-dresden.de, addressed to Prof. Alexey Chernikov (Chair of Ultrafast Microscopy and Photonics).
